It used to be simple.

Please could someone explain how "accessory" power is controlled on a Skoda without an ignition switch (i.e. a 2024 Scala 1.5 SE)?

My previous vehicles, bless their simplicity, have always had an ignition switch with an "ACC" position. This latest acquisition has a push-button start and no ignition switch, so how and when is everything needing a non-permanent electrical supply turned on?

In mine, different car tho, but you just press the 'Start' button WITHOUT pressing the brake pedal.

So, pressing the start button without depressing the clutch pedal (in the case of a manual gearbox) will not start the engine, but energise other equipment?

Please forgive ignorance, but elderly and still getting to grips with this modern car.

As said above dont touch ANY pedals Stand outside the car open the door press the start button. Magic will happen

To be clear with push button start:

There is no ACC position.

Pressing the button without touching the pedals turn on the whole ignition system so you are in the equivalent of IGN position.

Pressing the button while depressing the brake (or clutch) turns on IGN and starts the engine.

The above said, the car is a bit cleverer than cars of old. You'll notice that unlocking the car actually energises some things (e.g dashboard) In the same way when you stop the car and turn off the ignition (press the start stop) the radio still plays until you exit the car. (Or until the cars "brain" decides it should be turned off!!)

Thanks to all responents to my query and I was delighted to find that the advice does work in practice.

As far as I can see, there is no mention of this in the Owner's Manual.

To be fair the owners manual tells you how to operate the car. It does not provide detail of what might be different from your last car.

Still glad you seem to have it sorted out.
