I Love My Octavia

Featured Replies

Just had MOT today. Passed. No advisories! I love this car. Best car I've ever owned. Had it for 17 years and found no reason to change it. Bought it at 4 years old with 27k on the clock. Now done 140k.

Not bad for a 21 year old, eh?

Scotland and around and back. About 1200 miles. Didn't miss a beat and returned about 57mpg. Happy days!

My work hack 1.6 tdi 2011 is giving me 58 mpg and done 230 miles on a quarter of a tank

I did a run from our nearby small town/large village about 5 miles with one traffic lights crossroads, a very narrow and slow road out of town, a few twisty sections where I had to downshift into second gear, some up and down hills and a 40mph limit. All the sort of road that should not give a good MPG. It is also a route I drive a fair few times.

Anyway this one time I got 68.9mpg on that section. Our other car a petrol peugeot 208 does it in about high 30s low 40mpg. However my parent's toyota corrolla hybrid did it in 99.9mpg once. I think nearly 70mpg on a road that is not a cruising road is amazing.

Forgot to say, a 2018 mk3 octavia so perhaps in the wrong place to report this. However I do think that all Octavias are by rep something special on the mpg front.

Forgot to say that we might be returning it due to an intermittent fault as it is less than 30 days since it was bought. We are so devastated with this issue as it looks like a fight with the dealer over this issue.

I echo this thread's sentiments! Just gone from south Wales to Essex (Harwich) in our 1.9 TDI and will be going to Poland next week. 240 miles on first quarter of the tank. MPG around 77 according to "the internet" and that is laden with kids, bags, wife and full boot.

Gawd bless the Octavia.

Mine is a 2011 model with 49,000 miles on the clock and I regularly get over 50 MPG on a run and about 45 MPG around town.

Every time the press publish a list of most "nickable", most "unreliable" cars etc. I am heartened to see no mention of the Octavia.

Let's keep flying under the radar folks !! 🙂

I loved mine until it was written off (not my fault) 😭, and I also loved this forum, very pleasant and knowledgeable people, I am on another forum as I did not buy another Skoda, what a bunch miserable sods, I've posted questions on there but nobody replies, a lot of people have read them and only one single reply, and didn't answer my counter reply, there has been questions on there for weeks never answered.

Clearly the solution is to buy another Skoda. Skoda drivers are Happy Drivers!!

335mls on half a tank of diesel

Nice. I am always trying to chase my personal best of 400 miles at the halfway point (from August 2019; hot weather, recent service, unladen) and finally did it again last week!

It's the European (German in this case) diesel; I swear it goes further.

my diesel was from my local harvest petrol station in Gosport , and a large can of injector cleaner from DAF helped

Car has had a full service in June with an oil flush
