Sun too hot on the dash - or what?

Featured Replies

Very hot, today, but might this be the cause of a problem I have. Virtual dash set on Classic, and with speed repeated in centre. After third stop, the centre shows Assist setting options for cruise (not ACC), or limiter (warning sound if exceed set speed). This will not go away, just scrolls between the two options, and change menu button has no effect. If I press scroll wheel in, it turns on whichever of the two are highlighted. Normally, I never use either of them. Can change dash style, so that button works, but that is it. Will check again later tonight, to see if cooler temp can clear it.

Well, if not the sun, I don’t know what. Parked up in the shade, for a couple of hours, started up, and this time had the last journey stats showing. Pressed buttons, twiddled twiddler, and away it scrolled, and I could reset it back to my favourite style. Today was only second day parked outside, at home. Had to empty shed, as partially collapsed, so all gone into garage, so will have to see if it behaves itself.🤞

I’ve seen posts about something called the clock spring, which from memory seemed to have to do with the operation of steering wheel buttons. Maybe it’s a connector that’s not properly connected and heat is causing it to expand and move slightly?

Yes, some sort of expansion, I expect. Poor car is not used to being outside, at home, and Is in direct sun on drive. Damn this climate!😂
