Unable to Download Digital Certificate in MySkoda

Featured Replies

Downloaded the app, paired to the vehicle & nearly everything works, except I can't download e a Digital Certificate. Been trying for the 10 days I've had the car but only ever get the same error, to try again later. Anyone got any ideas?

Is that the only function that’s not working? For example can you get the driving data mileage, mpg etc; does honk and flash work; can you send a route from the app to the car?

There was an issue with the servers at Skoda a while back where routes were not getting to the car. I suspect that the digital certificate data comes from a Skoda server that holds the service history amongst other stuff. I’ve just checked and I can get a digital cert for my Karoq but it is about 2000 miles out of date - which I’ve not seen before so maybe their is an issue with the servers?

Yes, everything else works.

I've dropped CS an email but based on previous responses, I'm not hopeful. When researching, I was looking for a 24 hour test drive. My local dealer wouldn't accommodate that unless I placed an order first, so I asked CS to provide the name of a dealer that would. After several days I got a reply advising me that none of the dealers are open 24 hours a day... 🙄

Is your Karoq new or used? If you are near the dealer you bought it from the service person should be able to go online and access the same info.

It's new but the supplying dealer is 100 miles away. I'll update if CS come up with anything.

Just tried and see it's working for my car.

Also noticed I have a leather gear lever!

On the last Karoq the digital certificate told me I had 18" alloy wheels and 17" tyres 🤣

Frustrating when these things don't work as intended.

As expected, Skoda UK have been typically useless by waffling on about the vehicle not being paired to the app, despite me telling them that everything else worked. They did however helpfully include a PDF of the service history - of someone else's eight year old Fabia...

I'll see if I can get any more sense out of Skoda-Auto.

I seem to have the same problem. Gives an error when I try to download the certificate.

Just bought my Karoq, 2024 model had it two weeks now still only 700 miles on the clock.

Everything else works in the app..

I got a response last night asking for more details, & another just now that they're investigating. I'll update with any progress.

Co-incidentally, I've also had mine two weeks today...

My phone is a Samsung S23+ running Android 15 & I have the same issue on a Samsung tablet running the same.

Might be an idea to email [email protected] & reference my ticket no. 00274107, so they know mine's not a one-off.

I was able to download a digital certificate just now. It shows the car's mileage as it was roughly a month ago.

That is very similar to what the digi cert shows for my Karoq, mileage is approx 6 weeks out date.

About 2 months ago there was an issue with the 'Send Route to Car' feature. If you use the App to plan a route this feature will send the destination/route to the built-in Sat Nav. You could send the route but it never reached the car, many owners had this issue and it wasnt limited to Karoqs. It was clearly a Skoda server iissue not transmitting to the car. It got fixed after about 2 weeks.

This Digi Cert issue looks very similar - the data on the Skoda server is not up to date - as proven by mine and @mumpsim examples, it also seems as though new car data is not reaching the server hence why Digi Certs are not being produced.

Generally the slave servers used to provide data to Internet and App requests are purely for that purpose, they get regular (hourly/daily/overnight) updates from the master servers.

The Digi Cert should have an entry for when the PDI was done. As cn be seen from this extract for my car.

This has prompted me to buy a generic service record book, as one wasn't included with the car. Seems better to retain ye olde rubber stamp records rather than rely on what appears to be a flaky online system.

When the Skoda dealer does a service they provide a printout of the full service history. Which I suspect comes from what k referred to previously as the master server. Of course once the car is serviced outside the dealership service invoices are the only proof.

I've reported it too and referenced your ticket. They asked for screenshots and also phone model OS etc.

Just downloaded a certificate for mine and see the Mileage is pretty much up-to-date 🤷

The mileage on my digital certificate is also about a month behind

Received an email saying they've made some adjustments. I can now download the certificate but as others report, the data is stale. My PDI isn't showing & the mileage appears to be zero. I've reported back with a copy.

Mine's still not working, however talking to Skoda CS at the moment and they have requested app logs which I have sent.

Guess it could be due to the delayed data causing issues..

We'll see!

Bizzarely mine continues to work - mileage in the App is within a few miles of that reported on the digital certificate.

I guess data might be populated from different sources as the digital certificate indicated 1815 miles, whereas the mileage in both 'car details' and 'service' areas of the App indicates 1837 miles🤷

Its working now, however old data, no mileage, however oil service @ 230 miles is showing!

I now have mileage but no connection or service history.

Dont know what's worse, it not working or that they apparently don't know how to fix it. Glad I bought the log book now.

Another annoyance is that half the time I open the app, it tells me the car's unlocked when it isn't.

This caught me out a few times too although I then realised it reports the last known status of the car until the app has connected (car reports online) and updates the cars current status

The mileage for mine has now been updated since my earlier post - its only 50 miles behind the car which is reasonable.

Final update I guess.

Mileage is correct & a connection is showing after about 400 miles. Before that it claims no connection.

Skoda now claim that PDI is no longer recorded online since April. This seems very convenient as an alternative to a fix & makes me wonder why they've only just discovered this, a fortnight after raising the issue.

"We have received an update from our technical team. We would like to apologize for any confusion regarding the pre-delivery inspection data. Please be informed that as of April 2025, we have descoped this part of Digital Certificate and therefore pre-delivery inspection data are not shown any more."

I have no faith in this system whatsoever & would recommend anyone with a '25 plate invest a few quid in ye olde service log book. This one's cheap & does the job.
