Skoda Fabia Mk2 1.2HTP 2010 Loses electrical power and Shudders

Featured Replies

Hi All, Im new here.

My wifes car is a 1.2HTP Fabia MK2 from 2010 with 103.000Kms, it has started to have a problem, when I accelerate and go to about 2.800rpms its cuts out electrics (as the air con temp stops working) and shudders, the enigine light and EPC blinks with the shuddering, see video below.

I have cleaned MAF sensor and tried new coil packs, Ive looked for vacum leaks and found none, I tried connecting a Carly OBD to the car but it wont connect to the car.

Any Ideas?

Cheers

I think the best optioin would be to get it scanned with VCDS. Could be something simple but hopefully will have stored some codes to point you in the right direction. Check the obvious like loose battery terminals and the strip fuses in front of battery and loose connectors/wiring in general . Maybe a short when engine vibrations are high. Look very carefuly at the fuses as they can crack but arent noticeable.

Could be something as simple as a ****ty 12v battery unable to get up a voltage the engine needs, but still able to start it (maybe struggling tho)

When working on the car i regularly forget to disconnect the battery maning batteri drins over the several hours im around it

Then the car does a bad stutter when trying to start. And dashboard flickers.

Nit quite the same, but very similar. Difference explaining that is your car is started.

So check the battery, make sure its fine.

Lets hope a cheap fix like this fixes it.

Crank sensor is at rear of block, awkward to access:

For part number, best to check using VIN, message me with it if you prefer not to post it.

For that VIN the crankshaft speed sensor is 03D906433 (dropped in Aug '23), superseded by 03D906433A.
