regenerative braking and brake lights

Featured Replies

I'm wondering if when the car is regenerative braking (when you lift your foot off the accelerator it starts braking), does it mimic normal braking, such as lighting up the brake lights at the rear?

Also, is it possible to turn it off? :)

If it is braking with noticeable deceleration, yes and you can easily see at night how your brake lights reflected on road signs or things along the road behind you.

To turn off what exactly? Brake light lighting on when car decelerates? Of course not, and why would you want to do it?

I'd suggest it would be better to modify driving habit rather than disabling a feature that tells someone following that the vehicle ahead is slowing significantly!

How about dialling in a little more anticipation and just 'feathering' the throttle pedal instead of backing-off completely?

I realise it's not always possible to do this in todays driving conditions, but is frequently possible.

They did on a loan car (Octavia mk4 e-TEC) I had a while back so I assume they would on an iV too. Easy enough to check on an unlit road, especially if you get a passenger to look out of the back they'd see the road light up red.
