Intermittent jerks after a few kilometres of driving followed by Error codes

Featured Replies

Hello All,

I recently purchased a 2018 Skoda Kodiaq style Diesel. After about a month of purchase while driving in traffic the vehicle gave intermittent jerks a few times and this stopped. Later after another kilometer or so the Glow plugs and ESC error code started flashing followed by a park assist code. Reverse camera stopped working.

The idle RPM went up from 900 to 1200 RPM. However the codes went away and the RPM was back to 900 after stopping and restarting the engine. The mechanic did not find any error codes after the engine was restarted. The above sequence was repeated two more times. The mechanic says there are no error codes from the gearbox.

Your advice to help me resolve this issue will be much appreciated. Thank You.

I have exactly this on my 2017 2.0 diesel DSG.

Currently in the garage VAG Technik in Eccles to try and resolve it.

Hi,

What is the most common use of your Kodiaq? Is it often used on short drive in trafic jam for instance?

If yes, I would say the EGR valve could start being clogged... However, the symptoms would still be there even after a restart.

Additionally, this doesn't explain the ESC error code. 🤔

What was the problem in the end and how was it solved? I have a problem in Sport mode with jerking at speeds up to 50 km/h when I brake suddenly, in Normal mode there is never a problem

Has the battery been ever changed? It may cause a lot of DTC if the average voltage gets to low, when it starts aging...

My battery died because I was messing around with the maps update with just ignition on. The battery has been checked and recharged, and they say it's above 80%, but I feel like this started happening right after that. I cleared all the error codes, and there were a million of them after the battery died.
