Starter Motor PN?

Featured Replies

Hi all looking to replace my starter motor as it's been cranking slower recently leading to longer starts. I've looked all over the place for the correct part number and I get a couple different ones. So far the part number I've found online is 02M 911 023 AX, done on www.skoda-parts.com with VIN. Can anyone tell me if this is definitely correct? I'd like to get a 2nd hand one if possible.

It's for a 2004 Fabia VRS engine code ASZ, thank you

Any of these should fit, I think (not sure why first two lines are repeated as last two):

Thanks for the info, I'll see if I can get my hands on a replacement

Before you go ahead and buy one worth checking contacts to starter and battery contacts are good as well as the condition of the battery. Sons fabia was slow to turn over. I removed cables from starter and the supply was a bit coroded. Gave it a clean up and its been fine since. Had failing battery in my old van and starter was down on speed as well.

The battery itself is about a year old so I'll check the connections to the battery and the starter just to be sure. What rpm does the starter need to achieve in order for it to start up right away? I've read at least 300rpm somewhere. I've got a vcds clone that can measure rpm and stuff but not sure exactly where to look to find that. Are there any other parameters that could affect the extended crank starting?

A while ago I had to replace mine ( 1.4tdi 70), and found info on carparts4 a bit flimsy.

in end I opted for the higher powered one . The only problem I had was the 12v low current connection. I ENDED UP USING A LUCAR CONNECTOR. tHAT WAS AT LEASE 18 MONTHS AGO . STARTS ON FIRST TURN, SO MUST BE OK.

I've checked the contacts, they weren't terrible but definitely needed a clean up. Did that on the starter and the battery earth, still the same issue. I would assume the starter is going then? Is there any way I can make sure it's the starter definitely not performing as it should? Cheers

Years back Lucas in Inverness would check a starter for you. Not sure if there is anybody who does that these days. Maybe try autoelectrician?

I had similar problem. Carparts4 isted two starter motors . I chose higher power one as mine is 1.4TDI. Mechanically a perfict fit, but trigger connector was different. I fitted a Lucas connector and all has been well for a lot of time.
