Engine stalls on first drive of the day

Featured Replies

Good afternoon everybody,

After purchasing a Superb 2016, 150hp, dq250 dsg, aprox. 50000 miles, upon the first start of the day, the engine cuts off when accelerating while trying to move out of the parking spot. This happens with Autohold option engaged and only happens once a day or if the car is left for more than 10-12 hours without being started. if i disengage the autohold option, there are no problems whatsoever.

VCDS scan returned no errors and i also modified the dynamic start assist to early, but that does not seem to solve the issue.

The dsg oil and filter have been changed at aprox. 37000 miles, if that matters....

Any ideas how to solve the issue ?! I do find the autohold option very useful, otherwise turning it off completely would seem to "fix" the problem.

Looking forward to your feedback !

Sounds very much like a battery issue, if it’s still on original it’s time for a change for sure.

I also had this now and again before changing my rear discs and pads, almost like the auto hold not disengaging quick enough but my battery was also old at the same time

Thanks for the reply Danoid,

The rear pads and discs are literally brand new, like 2 weeks old. It did the same with the old worn ones too...the battery was changed at a certain point, however no idea how old it is and the previous owner does not have the receipt anymore.

Indeed it is exactly as you say, it feels the autohold is still locking the rear for too long. is there an adaptation perhaps that can be done i wonder ?!

Autohold has 3 setting levels, to release braves: Early / Normal / Late.

I changed mine from Normal to Early to have smoother starts at traffic lights or stop signs.

Maybe something to check / try?
