Strange noise coming from dash

Featured Replies

I have a 2006 skoda octavia 1.9

Upon putting my key in ignition I have noticed it makes a strange noise, I havent noticed this previously so im unsure if its normal.

It sounds like it is coming from behind the centre console/dash

If i turn the fan on it goes off.

Cant view clip but it may be the flaps on the climatronic system. They can be reset but it may be that they are worn. My old octavia used to make a weird noise/low hum that faded away every time I switched off engine.

Thank you Alasdair for your reply, i have tried resetting the climatronic unit, heard a few flaps adjust but it hasnt had fixed the issue. Noise is still there when key is ignition, it almost sounds like a small motor?!

May be that the mechanism is worn out and flaps are trying to close/open. Mine sounded like a motor stopping every time I turned off ignition plus a tick tik tick sound after for about 5 secs. Cold and hot still worked but not sure if it was working properly originally as sound was there when I bought car second hand. Never used AC as it was needing recharged and never did get round to investigating it properly as it still worked.
