Octavia to MG HS PHEV, MG to Skoda Elroq EV?

Featured Replies

Well its been a few years but back on this forum. At the moment I have the MG HS PHEV, no matter what people say this has been a brilliant car, nothing has gone wrong, the 12v is still the original, the DAB Radio still works and no stupid screen aerial glove box lash up either. 3 years and all is well.

My wife has now ordered the new Hyundai Inster 02 EV and got £3.750 EV grant and £500 deposit contribution. We have a Zappi on the wall for the MG so thought I'd see what my options were. The new MG, EV3, or maybe the Elroq ? I have yet to book test drives so I would like to get a heads up on your thoughts on this car, so when I take it out of the dealer showroom I will hopefully remember what to check out!

Any comments, good or bad would be appreciated.

Maybe I should have added this to the Elroq Forum.

It's quite a difficult comparison, and you have not really indicated how many people you normally carry,, and how far your journeys are, or if it is local driving or longer main roads. So to be fair any answers are going to be more guesses than recommendations.

The Inster has the fold down front seat so can carry long Ikea boxes or a paddleboard etc, but what do you want from your car ?

Thank you John. The inster is my wife's new car and will be our run around. The Elroq is a possible replacement for my MG HS PHEV.

My MG has only covered 7400 miles since March 2022 so mainly also local trips with the occasional holiday, when we both need a car at the same time. Or in the UK or a trip to an airport. It is not opinions on the running around, that will be evident on a test drive, it's more like:

Top 3 things you like about the Elroq ?

Top 3 things you do not like about the Elroq ?

How easy or hard is the Info to use, easy to adjust the aircon/heating?

How intrusive/annoying is the driver attention warning when you are trying to adjust the info screen, can't do both at the same time!

How picky is the over speed warning, is there a margin of error, say +2mph. Can this be turned off?

are you able to turn off the warnings you don't want and they stay off or are they active on starting and each have to be turned off in the info screen?

Those sort of things.

Real world on the ranges of the 3 badge options, 50, 60 or 85. I am looking for max range, user friendly, and max comfort. The 'Days of Thunder' are now a distant memory! I am aware of the 3 year warranty against the 7 years of the MG. I bought an extended warranty each year on my Octy that covered the new Turbo replacement that blew at 4 years.........

Sort of real world thoughts....
