Leakey DCC dampers - How bad does it have to be before replacing?

Featured Replies

So, not unexpectedly, it looks like the front DCC dampers on my 2019 L&K have started to leak. It was MOTed last week and the tester didn't think it was bad enough to warranty an advisory.

I have a 3rd party extended warranty on the car for the next 12 months, any thoughts on how bad the leaking has to be before they will replace them? or is it going to be very subjective and depend on the garage I take it to?

I've got some photos but can't seem to upload them at the moment.

My experience with 3rd party warranty is that you must hammer them at every opportunity, as they try to find any escamotage to avoid honor said warranty ... I would file a claim and put them to work!

OK, sounds like step one is to get it into a garage who can confirm they need replacing. I've got a local friendly place (same place that did the MOT test) or the local Skoda service centre, I'm in two minds which to use.

If I go to the Skoda centre I suspect there is a much higher likely hood they will say "replace".

In my experience a 3rd party warranty won't cover dampers- wear and tear gov they will say.

If the MOT tester considered they did not warrant an advisory, I don't believe that a 3rd party warranty would cover the cost of replacement.
