Hi everyone,

I’m looking to upgrade the RNS 315 unit in my 2014 Skoda Rapid Spaceback to a VW/Skoda MIB2 STD PQ/Nav unit – the single-piece version designed specifically for PQ platform cars like the Rapid, Fabia, etc. I’ve seen a few threads about this but wanted to check a few things before diving in.

Here’s what I’m hoping to understand:

1. Compatibility & Fitment – Since the MIB2 STD PQ/Nav is made for PQ platform cars, is it a direct swap with the RNS 315? Are there any wiring changes or adapters I’ll need to make it work smoothly?

2. Component Protection – I know MIB2 units usually come with CP (Component Protection). What’s the best way to get this removed? Is dealer activation required, or are there trusted specialists who can do it?

3. USB & AUX Integration – How do I get the external USB and AUX ports working like they did with the RNS 315? Do I need new modules or cables for the MIB2 to recognise them properly?

4. Functionality Retention – Will features like the rear parking sensor display, steering wheel controls, DAB, and Bluetooth still work after the upgrade?

5. Coding & Setup – I don’t have VCDS, so wondering what kind of coding is needed for the retrofit and whether I’ll need to go to someone with ODIS or another specialist tool.

6. Maxi DOT display – I have the highline instrument cluster with the Maxi DOT display – will this still show navigation turn-by-turn directions with the MIB2 like it does with the RNS 315?

If anyone’s done this upgrade (or something similar), I’d really appreciate any tips, wiring diagrams, or even part numbers that could help. Photos or guides would be a huge bonus too!

You need Gateway wich Support 5F Unit.

You have To Patch the unit, Others you dont have all Features

This is as much as i know.

1. You would most likely need to replace gateway(not sure for pq retrofit but for mib toconversion its needed). You would also need quad lock adapter from RNS to PQ system or diy it your self.

2. All MIB2 based units have CP that includes PQ units. Best option is to unlock it with dealer or someone with ODIS but there are some ways to "bypass" it but it will show error on diagnostic tools(unit still works).

3. If you think USB and AUX under climatronic those have cables that go into unit on quadlock connector on MIB units USB connects to separate port and AUX on quadlock. Cables can be found so you can replace(note if you want to use apple car play you would need to replace USB port as iphones need special type for comunication, android should work with what you have).

4. Functions just need to be coded on unit to your spec.

5. For coding you would probably need to code some thing for your car for example what type of parking sensors you have(rear and front, just rear, none) all those basic coding can be done with VCDS or OBD11 no need for ODIS.

6. Not sure on this one but if everything is normal it should work normaly.

I have done upgrade in my car but from MIB2 Swing to MIB2 Amundens similar story but simplifyed because i didn't have to replace gateway.
