Is Fuel contamination a problem in Kodiaq PHEV's

Featured Replies

I have ordered my Kodiaq IV and await its delivery with anticipation. I had a question pop into my head and I wondered if anyone has a view on it: With the great electric range on the PHEV is there an issue with fuel contamination due to lack of use and if so, what are the solutions(I have heard that the new higher ethanol content in E10 means the fuel degrades much quicker i.e 4-6 weeks rather than the 3-6 months with the regular E5). If I have any of this wrong just let me know.

Kind regards

Kev

Who are you hearing from?

What do you think is contaminating, bacteria?

Water / H20 might be an issue, condensation. Keep the tank full in winter, with winter spec petrol as sold from late October in the North of England.

Best keep firing up the engine and not just running on electric. Water in oil and rust in the engine is more of a worry if you have a keeper.

You show as being in the UK. E10 has been what 95 ron is for 4 years now. It does not all have 10% Bio Ethanol.

It is a different formulation Winter and summer, less hygroscopic. Best not have 6 months unused petrol in your tank even if E5.

E5 in the UK does not all have 5% Bio-ethanol in it.

Regional dependent and if ESSO or from Greenergy, so Tesco Momentum 99, and which port / depot it comes from.

Havent heard any isseus regarding that tho

Millions of cars sitting for sale in garages and unregistered in the UK, not all Electric.

Petrol / PHEV. Been sitting unsold for months, occasionally fired up, battery charged etc. maybe on runways, at auctions or car supermarkets.

All doomed by contaminated petrol from having a little added at the factory or preparation site,or previous owners.
