Strange warning light not in manual

Featured Replies

This light just came on, Fabia 2006. I can't find it in the user manual, searched online can't even see anything similar.. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello, welcome to the forum.

Does your vehicle have heated seats?

  • Author

Hello, no, doesn't have heated seats. I assume like me, it looks like a seat to you as well. Because it looks like a seat, I've been checking things related to seating. It's not air bag, that light comes on with ignition, and after a few seconds goes out. Seat belt light goes out when seat belt is plugged in. Not electric seats so not that. I just can't find anything in the manual or online that shows that light and what it's telling me..

Are the backs of your rear seats secured correctly?

Yep, all secure, I've checked all seat belts and seating.

Image is a little blurry - below the symbol, there appear to be two parallel lines - are these arrows pointing left/right?

I probably know what it its, its a check engine light that have been ripped off. Look at the picture at the left of the hole for the gauge and upper of the odometer.c293_skoda_fabia_mph.jpg

You can confirm that by using a obd scanner.

Also, did you recently buy the Fabia? or in general are you the first owner?

Yes, my camera not the best. No, no lines, when you see it on the dash it looks like a little car seat..

At that position I think it can only be the check engine warning light.

Very odd shaped symbol if MIL!

Agreed that it looks oddly shaped but I can't think of any other symbol it could be given it's location. A better pic, ideally close up, might give us more detail.

So I purchased the car around a 18months ago. I can see the symbol your referring to, I do have that and all the other symbols in your pic, aside from the parking light and seat belt light they all go out after a couple of seconds and once car is started. Handbrake goes out once released and seatbelt goes out when plugged in. This particular light that looks like a small car seat when you see it sitting in car stays on... Pic I put up is a bit blurry due to dodgy camera, but it definately looks like a car seat when viewed in car.

As soon as I get home this evening I'll have another look... But I thought this was the engine management warning light, doesn't seem to look anything like the light I'm getting🤷

So do you see the check engine light? Like the one you have attached in the post? Because that is the position of the check engine light, it could be like that because maybe the seller have tried to broke the led behind the warning, to see the light in that way you just need to remove the cluster open the transparent plastic is held in place by two clips and push a screw driver in it and after it got taped or painted and now that is faded you se that strange light. I'm strongly sure that is a CEL. That is the only position for that warning in all mk1 fabia

I'm at work at the moment, but I'll have a closer look when I get home. But I've had the car 18months, if it is the seller did a dodgy, that would indicate that light must have been on all the time, I've had no issues with the car what-so-ever.. Runs perfectly, I've done just over 8k miles in it and just completed a 300mile round trip.. Hasn't missed a beat. You'd think if that was covered somehow by the seller after 18months what ever it's warning about would surely have packed up.. 🤷

Maybe it was on for a long period someone instead of repair it decide to remove it and after it got repaired, and now there is some fault and the warning got back on, it could be a faulty lambda sensor you won’t notice that but in this case the air fuel ratio is lean and the engine ecu doesn’t like it and turn on the cel. My best advice is to scan it with an obd reader or something like vcds to have a deeper diagnosis.

One easy way to confirm if it's the MIL indicator or not - the cruise control will not work if it is activated.
