Skoda Superb 2013 63 plate estate boot

Featured Replies

hi all

I have a 63 plate superb esate and the boot is very rotten!
All along the number plate lights and boot handle.

Number plate lights are failed water in them and now the handle to open is playing up only works on key fob.

I need to start to replace these parts and as i try and remove boot is getting worse with bits falling off!

Time for a new boot can any one point me in right direction for part number or replacement, is there any others that would fit say off an octiva?

Im going around in circles looking online.

TY

Part number I believe is 3T9827025A.

There's some on eBay for a decent-ish price, but you'll need to check what's included on it - you may still need to source new lights and tailgate switch if yours are knackered.

They come up on eBay regular. Around £200. You will have to price in fitting and respray also unless you get lucky. As yours is facelift the pre around 2013-2009ish may not be compatible due to subtle changes. I have a 2011 with same issue Galvanic Corrosion I believe it’s called. Have my replacement lid ready to spray and fit.

face lift

Seems to be a very common issue, my 2014 FL tailgate is corroding, seems to have started on the right hand numberplate lamp and has spread around this and up onto the rear outer panel where the badges sit. Not pretty looking. I am tempted to rub down and try and rust treat the corrosion and then paint with some sort of rust proofing paint, and rather than re-spray possibly get a small section of wrap done, maybe black or dark grey along this panel width. Cheap/nasty option but unless I fully replace or cut out the rot its just going to come back through.

Despite FSH with Skoda, unless you ask for the body inspection service this is not done and they can then squirm out the anti-corrosion warranty...at least thats my view on it...

Apparently changing the number plate lights to LED and coding out bulb warnings is a thing. That is what Skoda did to anyone whose warranty was honoured and they got a new tailgate.
