Creaking noise around driver's door

Featured Replies

Hi,

I own a Skoda Superb Mk4 2.0 TDI, 193 HP since one month already. I'm quite happy with it and, so far, I have not encountered any of the software issues that other mk4 owners reported.

However, I want to report an issue that manifested sporadically from day 1: there is a creaking noise around the driver's door that manifests even on very gentle bumps. I think it sounds like rubber on metal and hence I suspect the door seals. Initially I thought it's the locks which I have lubricated (service intervention) but with no luck.

One thing I wanted to add: it doesn't always manifest. It's rather 50% of the time.

I found someone on the facebook Skoda Superb Mk4 club who I think complained about the same thing. He also suspects the door seals, especially since he said the noises went away for a while after using gummi pfledge: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/174ReqUmvF/?mibextid=wwXIfr

Did any of you encounter this and if so... what solutions seemed effective?

Thanks!

I have the same problem. Mine weems to go away if I open the window a crack. I've tried lubing the door seals but it still happens.

Thanks! I will also try the trick next time to at least confirm it's the same exact thing.

Yup. Superb mk4 - 24-plate L&K - very quiet creaking noise from passenger side when driving over rougher roads (and i live in Flintshire, so thanks to our local council we've got quite a lot of those locally!). So quiet that it's almost impossible to identify an actual source - but it's there. Can't hear a thing when on a nice smooth surface.

Never thought about the door rubbers - will look into the 'Gummi Pfledge' mentioned.

Having come to the Skoda from a couple of BMWs, what's become obvious is that, while the Skoda is a great car in many respects and represents much better value for money than the BMW, it's simply not quite as well put-together. The BMWs were more 'solid' cars in terms of the build quality. Never got any sort of noise of this nature on either of the Beemers.
