Location siren

Goodevening !

Question, I have a octavia elegance businessline combi 2011 1.2 TSi.

It is fitted with a factory alarm. Past couple of days, my alarm leads his own life.
The alarm goes random off and no signal from the horn, only the indicator lights are flashing.

So I decided to replace the siren because it wasn't replaced since it came out of the factory, so probably the battery inside is dead.

But where is siren mounted? is it on the left side or de right side?
Any one any idea?

And how to get there? Is there a how to or could someone explain to me what's the easiest way to replace it?

Thanks in advance and greetings from the Netherlands.

Henry

The alarm (siren) is mounted behind the offside wheel arch cover on right hand drive cars. It is held in place with one bolt and one rivet.

Take a look at the pinned thread above concerning alarm replacement:-

Once the alarm appears to misbehave after 6 or more years in use, it is best to replace it in my experience. It may be on the other side on your LHD drive car.

Remove the wheel and wheel arch cover to gain access. There are photos in some other alarm threads.

Thank you for your answer !
At the end of the week i have some spare time and will give it a go !

When you replace the alarm, spend the money and buy a genuine new unit. if you look on auction sites etc you can see used alarms at good prices - it is said that these are often from scrapped cars and may have failed or will fail soon.

But how much is a new unit ?
