Intermittent SOS error - OCU software update needed?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I recently updated my MIB3 software to 0332. Since doing this, I've been getting the dreaded SOS warning message pop up (which clears almost immediately afterwards with the general warning then clearing when stopping/starting the car).

Do I need to also update my OCU software, could this be the issue? I'm currently on 0139 but I believe there is at least a 0143 version available. My OCU is listed as OCU3_5WA035284B_

Many thanks for any help.

Phil

I thought the OCU updates needed to be done at a dealer as they can take hours. But I really ask not certain so wait for someone else to shoot me down.

OCU is all to do with the eSIM though so intermittent SOS errors definitely points to it.

No, you can update the OCU yourself. However, very few people know how to do it correctly. It has a boot component and an app component.

Hello, look here to find the OCU version you need, follow the suggested procedures carefully, extract the file with 7Z and format the USB in FAT32. Make sure the battery is fully charged or connected to a maintenance charger of at least 15 A, and keep the emergency lights on throughout the update.

I've not been able to locate the file required. It looks like mibsolution.one is permanently down ☹️

Does anyone know a good source for the lastest version (1.43?) for OCU3_5WA035284B_ ?

Thanks

Hi @Cairus , not sure if I can receive PMs yet as I'm fairly new to the forums.

YOU can open this link?

Hi @GiscoYeti , yes I can open that link, but the OCU software in there looks to be the non "B" version software OCU3_5WA035284__. I need OCU3_5WA035284B_

Ciao @GiscoYeti , sì posso aprire quel link, ma il software OCU lì dentro sembra essere il software di versione non "B" OCU3_5WA035284__. Ho bisogno di OCU3_5WA035284B_

Hello, I believe that the letter “B” was assigned by the update, also in my case from the initial version H20 0083 with update 0139, done for a recall in 2021, the SW version changed to 5WA 035 284 E, therefore I believe that the letter B was added in version 0088.

Hi @Cairus , thanks for your input. I'm more confused about which software I'm supposed to be using based on that table.

Which one should I be using?

Also, is it a simple case of extracting to a USBC stick and running the update from the service mode (like I did for my MIB3 updates) or are there other tasks to do too?

Many thanks

But which version of the firmware should I be using?

Ma quale versione del firmware dovrei usare?

So I assume your hardware is HW 5WA 035 284 B, which is what you will need to find and install.

Yes, that is what my OBD scanner app shows me "OCU3_5WA035284B_", so I guess I just need to find the latest version for that hardware?

I'm not going to lie, this is getting a bit confusing 😕

Why you want to Update?

Why you want to Update?

I'm getting an intermittent SOS warning error on the dashboard (which clears almost immediately), with the overhead SOS light also turning red (which clears itself after an engine restart).

I read on another thread that updating the OCU had fixed this for somebody.

Guys, I have the same error on my Superb iV 2021.
Want to flash it. Could you share a link to the firmware (or a pass to link to Mega)?

Hi, sorry, I never got the info on how to do this...just got used to the error popping up and disappearing again. Cheers, Phil
