Seat memory wont "chime" on manual calibration.

superb style 3 seat memory model drivers

my seat memory has been wiped (lets not get why it happened)
me and my GF want to put our seat memories into the model, but it wont do anything.
on the multimedia when going to car setting -> seats
I have the store memory in key (which is turned off and CANT be turned on, probably because of the model doesn't have anything stored yet.)

I have followed the manual calibration doing the front up down back stuff, see video
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/1ixkHTsE8SA

I don't get the chime I suppose to get, I once had this also when I got my car and it did have the chime and we stored our positions and everything was ok.

Am I messing up something in the calibration? it does feel like I miss something because I had the same feeling when I did first time unit I got it and forgot.

I think you have a known problem with a certain hardware and software version that sporadically loses its basic settings on its own. Only a control unit update will help here.

It got only got to default settings and with VCDS i did return it to default settings

The automatic calibration worked also but still no chime or letting me save position

Another update, the backrest does respond to the calibration, but at some point when it is going towards the steering wheel, its stopping, then i get the error, but it does respond and trying to do it so the motor is ok and such.

Maybe something stuck in his gear? Or something similar?

@Cairus what do you think?

  • Author

maybe something got stuck in his gears and making the power spike and shutting down the motor thaus the error i get on the backrest and not finishing the calibration

It's a common issue covered by TPI 2049942 (at least on the Octavia).

However, as you have HW06 and SW09, you might need a replacement controller: https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/504340-superb-mk3-memory-seat-issue/#findComment-5663079

i think mine has something making the gears consumption spike and cutting the power, i will try to lube them with grease today, move the backrest back and fourth to see if it will losen and try to do the norming again

There is a service TPI with the exact symptoms your having, same fault codes and your HW/SW match too...

If grease was a long term solution, the TPI would tell the dealer to grease something rather then replace or update a module.

He dont belive us

It's not that I don't believe; I don't understand. What is this TPI? How can an update to the firmware fix something like this?
Well anyway, I am going tomorrow to drop my car at the mechanic for replacing the DCC shocks, will let him know about the firmware update and see how it goes. if there is something I should note to him, do tell me

Skoda release TSB and TPI to cover common faults so that dealers can repair them over warranty. They include the symptoms, any fault codes, what hardware/software it effects and how to fix it.

It's anything from misting headlights, head unit upgrades, suspension squeaks all the way to dieselgate ECU upgrades and indeed seat controllers not remembering positions.

In this case, given the modules you have installed they will be replacing. The firmware update only applies to newer hardware in afraid.

Skoda might offer goodwill or a free replacement as it's a known issue. If the car had warranty I'd very much expect it to be fixed for free....

Hm i see, so its needing of dealership or a specialist.

I will see what the mechanic will say tomorrow

@LinoTheFox

TSB = Technical service bulletin

TPI = Technical product information

Both basically types of memos that go to dealers warning of recognised issues and methods to resolve. There will be a difference between the two but essentially that's what they do. In other words, Langers2k and Cairus are both confirming that VAG know all about your specific issue with your specific environment. And whilst there's no harm in trying to grease, it probably isn't the solution. 👍
