Safe Jacking Point Location on Fabia 2008 Mark2

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

The pinch welds on my 2008 Skoda Fabia Mk2 are too rusty to use, so I placed the jack stand where you can see in the photo. Could this spot have damaged anything, or was it unsafe for me to be under the car?
Thanks in advance!

Jack goes under the round part. Use a suitable trolley jack with a rubber pad.

Thank you. Where would you suggest putting the axle stands?

For the rear, I'd suggest putting the axel stands under the rear beam.

On my sons fabia mk1 there was a lable on the rear beam saying something like no jack points? I kept the axle stands as near the wheels as possible and was ok.

The same label is also present on the MK2. I wondered myself why is it classed an unsafe location to jack.

If the beam in question is the Torsion Beam, it twists to allow suspension movement - jacking in the wrong place risks damaging or bending it, adversely affecting the suspension.

OP says the jacking points in the pinch welds aren't useable hence my suggestion of the rear beam for the axel stands and jack the vehicle from the workshop lift points if you see what I mean.

As you say, don't jack the rear beam but in my experience it's been no problem to use axel stands under it placed as close to the wheels as possible.
