2L TDI CFHC engine is in limp mode

Featured Replies

Hi. My 2012 Octavia Scout is in limp-mode. Here's the scenario.

The car was misfiring and unhappy when cold and damp. It was fine once it was up to temperature. VCDS told me that glow-plug 4 was faulty, so I replaced it. VCDS also told me that I was getting a mis-fire on cylinder 1 so I repaced that injector. Now no misfire, but the car is in limp-mode permanently.

VCDS throws up NO ERROR MESSAGES and there is no indication on the dash-board that anything is wrong.

Do any of you have any sugggestions?

Thanks in advance

Pete

Common limp mode plus no messages problem is usually overboost from the turbo. Look for stiff/stuck turbo actuator. Does the limp mode reset after switching the engine off then on again?

No, a restart doesn't fix it. Do I have to remove the turbo to check this? It looks like a devil of a job to get to.

Not turbo sticky vanes/overboost if engine on/off does not reset limp mode.

Try disconnecting battery overnight and see if it resets the ECU. It may have got stuck in a loop.

Thanks, Alasdair1. It's got to be worth a try. It doesn't even cost me anything. I'll let you know if this works.
