How do I switch off my heated seat??

Featured Replies

Hi

previous octavia owner, now after a few years away we have a Fabia. A 2016 Fabia 1.2 TSI SE Euro 6 (s/s) to be precise. we've only had it a week and i've driven it over the last few days with no issues.

my wife took it to work for her first drive in it today, only a few minutes away, but when she came in she mentioned how hot the seat was. noooooo, i said, it doesnt have heated seats and it never got hot for me, i thought she was imagining it.

however, i just took it for a quick drive with her, and almost before we'd got out of the drive it was getting hot, and by the time we'd got round the corner it was uncomfortably so. i cant understand whats happened as it wasnt like that over the last few days when ive been driving longer distances.

Google/AI suggests it hasnt got the winter pack, and also suggests that itd have a button picturing a seat with wavy lines if so. there isnt one.

why on earth is it heating up, and how can i switch it off?? btw, it was only the driver seat. my wife was sat in the passenger seat and that wasnt heating up.

can anyone help us out here please? 🙂

thank you

EDIT: well that was a swift resolution. AI suggested an aftermarket heating pad and sure enough, on the side of the seat theres a small button with 3 positions. i think my wife must have caught it when adjusting the seat, so we'd never have known about it if she hadnt caught it 😁

Just in case you've not got a printed paper copy of the 'Owner's Manual' and don't already know or forgot you can get a free VWŠkoda pdf download from the VWŠkoda Owner's Manual site. - https://www.skoda-auto.com/apps/manuals/Models

Do bear in mind 12v battery use during winter, and hot summer, and consider the use of an appropriate charger maintainer if you have heavy battery use and/or lots of short journeys.

yes, ive got the booklet thank you.

interesting point on the battery, the stop/start doesnt work so i checked it today and it shows its health is 'weak', so ive contacted the garage who say theyll check it themselves and replace under warranty if they deem it to be poor enough.

thanks

Not a VWŠkoda Dealership I hope as they seem to often try to wriggle out of it, especially if they see an after market seat heater has been added (even though it was on there when they sold it to you, and more so more if they find out it's been left on pulling the battery down.

If under warranty you get a new battery (they 'code' it in too) that saves you a good few pennies and you start with a new battery. First thing I'd do out of warranty is remove that seat heater.

no, a local seller. and the heater hadnt been left on otherwise id have noticed it myself on test drive and a week of driving around, i think my wife must have caught it when adjusting the seat maybe.

its obvious when its on, so we'd just turn it off if this happened again as we know where it is now.

thanks
