ok, fitted a cark nokia kit to my octy, set radio to phone mode as per owners manual, but I can't get the phone sound through the radio, the phone will operate through a seperate speaker, but I thought it should work through the radio, muteing the radio volume and then playing the phone volume, any help or advise would be most welcome. Is there something i need to alter with my vag-com????

used your instructions to install phone kit, everything else works ok, radio mutes as phone call comes in, but does not route phone call through radio, any other thoughts.

are you sure you have the correct polarity on the hands free speaker input to the head unit?

As Johnny says Kev, it would appear to be a problem with the speaker connections.

I trust that although you have enabled the phone menu you have also set the initial volume level?

I asumed that the speaker wire with the white tracer was the positive, but I'll try it the other way.

still no joy, radio mutes when phone call comes in, but there's no ring volume, it's as though when the radio mutes it takes everything down and does not allow phone sound to be transmitted.

If I reconnect to the external speaker, and not through the radio, radio mutes when call comes in and the phone sound comes through external speaker. just got me baffled now, i would leave it through external speaker but it has such low volume when travelling at speed ( or maybe i'm a bit mutton jeff ).

any ideas

I'm sorry Kev I'm at a bit of a loss mate, are you sure you've made the connections correctly? Obviously the mute is working check the speaker connections.

Is this resolved yet?

I've just finished fitting a Nokia car kit as well as running an amp and sub from the standard head.

On the Nokia kit, the red wire is +ve and the white is -ve. Well it works for me.

When you set up the radio, you need to go to the PHONE option, and then press 'up' TWICE. Not just "PHONE ON", but "PHONE IN". Then set the phone volume on the next setup option.
