Octavia 2025 SEL - Front heated Windscreen

Featured Replies

Hello,

I currently own a six‑month‑old Octavia 1.5 SEL and have been really enjoying the car so far. One thing I’ve noticed, though, is that the front windscreen is a different brand (picture attached) compared to the rest of the glass — usually I’d expect to see “Skoda” marked on each pane. I understand it’s a heated windscreen, so I’m wondering if that explains the difference, or whether it might have been replaced before I bought the car. There’s a function to activate the heated screen, but I haven’t had a reason to test it yet. Since I can’t confirm either way, I thought I’d raise the question here on the forum.

I have requested moderators to move this to Mk4 section - but likely that screen is not original, I'd strongly suggest you check the heated screen is actually working properly.

sorry thought I did already post in the Mk4 section.

I did actually just try turning it on and yes within a few mins you can feel the warmth on the screen. Seems different to previous heated windscreens where there is/are small metal filaments inside, i cannot see anything on this, but the outside does have some film.

That's correct on the Mk4, the heated screen has an all over film not the individual heated elements.

As the screen heats then I'd suggest that even though it's not a Skoda branded screen it's a proper replacement.

Over the 3 year that I've had my RS, I've had 3 windscreens done.

2 by stone chips both in the line of vision and needed to be replaced, I'm on my 3rd now, but the OEM one & it's replacement were described as low quality, this one has been much better quality I think it's made by a French company. I think its Saint Gobain.

Fuyao are decent and used by some manufacturers from factory. I always request genuine manufacturers screens when getting replacements to ensure no issues. They sometime take a bit longer to get hold of but I'd rather that- especially with the heated ones
