Hi Adam. I'm not able to message as I've not posted enough on here apparently to enable messaging. My car is back at the dealer today, with this as an investigation. It was definitely louder on mine than the one I drove. I also experience a kind of crabbing if this happens when I'm turning, I've added that onto the fault report. I told them that it is embarrassing when you have passengers in a new car which makes a racket every time you go over a bump. It does pi$$ me of. I would not have bought it if I had known this would happen. A friend suggests that if I get no joy this time I take to the motoring press of Honest John or someone. I still find it difficult to understand how any engineer finds it acceptable.

Hi Colin. When last in, the dealer showed me an email from Skoda UK telling them it was a characteristic and to investigate no further. The dealer had been pretty good investigating and we're unaware of the issue. They showed me the email but would not let me have a copy as it was marked "internal only". I will see what happens today but will revert to Skoda UK again if no joy.

So the car was back in with the dealer last Thursday. They agreed the noise is intrusive and had had another Kodiaq with DCC+ in the previous week with the same issue reported. They raised it as a technical problem with Skoda UK again and got the same response from them. The wording on their response refers to:

DCC+ noises on irregular surfaces for Kodiaq 2.gen fitted with DCC+

Complaint - Hollow knocking sound from the chassis on irregular surfaces

Shock absorption characteristics changed in production as of June 2024

In vehicles produced after the aforementioned dates, the shock absorption characteristics are "as designed"

Clearly not a solution or a good response given the nature of the sound. I will now get back to Skoda UK directly to complain again. I wonder if any of the motoring press are aware of the issue?

So, the problem affects some Gen 2 Kodiaqs but by no means all of them. The casual bystander would surely observe that since not all cars with DCC+ are affected it cannot be a chacteristic of the car and most certainly not "as designed". Is it worth a visit to a different dealership to report the problem but mention none of the "characteristic" nonsense, and at the same time ask if any of their customers has reported a similar issue?

Yes, that is a good point. It probably also explains why the car we test drove did not make such noises, thus the car delivered to us probably had different "characteristics" to the one I drove.
