Servicing

Featured Replies

My 2019 2.0 TSI 4x4 is due for it's annual service, and i'm after some advice from other Superb Mk3 owners. It has been serviced annually by my local VAG specialist as follows:

First and second years: oil change

Third year: oil and brake fluid change

Fourth year: oil change

Fifth year: oil, air filter and spark plug change

Pollen filter has also been changed a few times.

I've realised that i've just blindly followed the VAG mechanic's advice, without really thinking about what should be serviced and when. The only advice i ignored (last year) was the cambelt. As the car had done only 9k miles - now 11k - i didn't think it was worth the 600£ they were asking, especially given the move toward mileage-based replacements.
I've looked at the Skoda website - https://www.skoda.co.uk/owners/servicing-maintenance-fixed-price - but it's a bit confusing. It suggest the spark plugs should have been changed after four years, but that the air filter didn't need to be done before six years. It also says nothing about the DSG service (which my mechanic has never mentioned).

Does the servicing look right? And, given i'm a very low-mileage driver, what should i get done this year?

First thing is if he is a specialist, what belt is he replacing on a 2.0tsi?

The Haldex should have been done by now, and I would change the dsg oil and filter if it was my own car.

I do mine haldex 2yrs and dsg 4 regardless of the low mileage.

The rest seems fine.

I’d be checking my air filter before 6yrs as well.

Good point re the belt. I hadn't realised it's chain driven, and that that never needs to be changed!

Also, thx for the Haldex tip - theyve never mentioned that either. Maybe it's time to change mechanic!

Make sure whoever does the haldex takes the pump out and cleans the gauze and doesn’t just change the oil.

Thanks. How often do you change the brake fluid?
