195 would probably best.

205 really shouldnt be fitted to anything under a 7" rim.

Buy some bigger wheels that take wider tyres then or just buy some better tyres....

What would happen if I fitted 205s to my wheels?

It'd be crap to drive, also any decent tyre fitter probably would fit them as they'd be too wide....

Goddam it... Looks like I'll have to spends some more money then lol - when I acctually get some :(

How much are 4x 16" spider alloys from skoda?

No obsession. I bassically want the WIDEST tyre I can fit on 16inch allows

btw anyone know how much 4x oct "spider" 16s are?

i'd ditch the rear mud flaps before hotting up the wheels........ they are grandads car in front type of things.

wider wheels mmmmmm so you think you'd park better removing about 20% turning circle?

what you have look just fine and the ***** wont nik 'em

A small tip for you, a wider tyre doesnt equals more grip.

Why would I loose 20% turning circle?

Yes they LOOK OK(ish) BUT they can only fit a max of 195s and I like corners ;)

Why dont you just buy some good tyres. As Ross says, wider doesnt always mean better, especially in the wet.

What the hell? Why not? Surly a wider tyre has more rubber in contact with the road... = better grip??

  • Author

Quite honestly that doesnt make sense to me. Technically it does but it doesn't for me.

If thats the case then why do high performace cars have wide tyres?

  • Author

ok. The wider tyre has a longer thinner contact patch but the thinner one.

I'm thinking that wider tyres actually provide more grip (and come on they do) because they have a longer thinner contact patch.

BECAUSE as tyres tent to take more lateral forces i.e the tyre wanting to break away to the SIDE in corners - the LONGER thiner contact patch takes the lateral movments better the the thinner "fatter" one.

Maybe the "thinner fatter contact patch tyre" i.e the thinner tyre's are BETTER in straight line grip?

Just a theory.

Becuase they need them! Also they are designed for wide tyres! You don't need a 225 with an alleged 135bhp!

But why would they need them if (according to that website) wider tyres DO NOT provide more grip/contact area?

An I its not "alleged" its actual. As stated on the dyno readout.:finger:
