Slight coolant loss 2.0 tdi

Featured Replies

Afternoon wonderful folks.

Wonder if someone can confirm the location of the water pump for a 2015 tdi. I’ve had a very slight coolant drop last few months (have added about 300ml of Fresh pink stuff). Having a searching bar today I can see a slight pooling below the front side of the engine. Is this likely to be water pump or possibly a hose? Can’t see any coolant in engine oil and no oil in coolant. Photo att with a stick showing location of where can see the coolant. Of course I’m guessing this maybe just where it’s pooling rather than coming from.

Many thanks in advance.

Hijacking this thread! I've had a similar issue for a while with my 2015 octavia diesel 2.0L. Very slow coolant loss for probably 1+ year. Maybe had to top up every month or two, but recently since doing a full coolant flush it has started leaking quicker. Today I noticed a pool under the car so decided to investigate. It looks like the leak is coming from the cam belt housing so likely its the water pump. See photo below, wet coolant residue in red, and water pump suspected location in green (can someone confirm??) This is strange though because I had it replaced less than 40k miles ago. Is this a known issue?

Is there anything else it could be before I replace the water pump + cam belt?

Thanks in advance, and hope this helps the OP!

Hi. Many thanks for the update. Had my local Garage look at it who said wasn’t losing much and just keep monitoring. Have a feeling my be the same but the pooling for me was front and right
