canton sound

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I’ve recently bought a Škoda Superb MK3 (2015) equipped with the Canton sound system. The overall volume is fine, but it feels like something isn’t quite right with the sound quality — especially the subwoofer, which seems weak, and the sound in general feels a bit flat and lacking depth.

I’d like to ask those with experience:

  • What are the most common reasons why a Canton system might not sound as it should?

  • Are there known issues with the amplifier, subwoofer, wiring, or system settings?

  • Or is it possible that the Canton system itself just isn’t that great in this model?

Any advice or experience would be appreciated. Thanks!

Canton system is really good on the mk3 pre-facelift Superb, nice & punchy and clear without distorting.

The Canton sub is known to have weak wiring connections, breaking off on the sub itself, hence making the sound experience terrible.

The Canton system on the facelift Superb with the MIB3 units is not as good, using a different sub and DSP (amplifier).

I've an intermittent fault with my 2020 FL Subwoofer. It the the connection on to the speaker itself or the plug that fails ?

On the sub itself, where the speaker wire solders to it.

There was a post, in this forum, last year showing the issue and how to fix the broken wire connection.

You don't recall the post title? Tried a few searches but no results 😩

Hi, probably you can check these two - one link was embedded inside, I put it here separately:

And finally, yes the Canton is nice system, but it does lack "punch".

It is inevitable, most modern systems go into this "balanced ambiance theater effect" which is fantastic, but obviously misses the "stadium rock" feel ....

Play with the settings and see if you can make it a lil better.

It is also very sensible to whatever music you play, how it is encoded, and so on.

In any case, I have a friend that works with some pro audio stuff (both car and home/studio) and has mentioned to me it seems to be undersized, so to expect a "support to sound" but not really to take the stage as a main driver...

I had a Lexus LS 400 and a Toyota Soarer and the sound system on those had a lovely natural sound and I find the Canton system on my Superb to be tinny in comparison.
