EPB servo replacement

Featured Replies

Hello - me again. I have been told my EPB servo motors have had it so I bought some from a breaker to replace.

Is there a correct way to do this? My plan is to remove the caliper, remove the servo, manually wind the piston back, plug in new servo, reattach the caliper and calibrate.

Will that work?

Hi,

It looks OK, except the piston MUST NOT be winded, but simply pushed back to avoid damages.

Have a look to the 'How to' I've make to replace rear pads. It should help you a bit.

If necessery, I can have a look to find the tightening torque of the EPB servo motor screws.

What is supposedly broken on your current engines?

Hi. I've been told by a VAG specialist that when 12v was applied to the original motors nothing happened. Reverse the polarity and the same result so they were clearly toast.

I've put the replacement motors on but still can't clear the fault and because of this can't apply basic settings even with OBDeleven pro.

I have a new battery arriving today so once I've fitted that I'll see if it helps as the original was showing low voltage yesterday even with a 4A charger attached.

And you have No ESC/Abs/ESP Error?

Fuse Number 1 in the Engine-Room is OK?

New battery has made no difference. On OBDeleven I can hear the basics settings/test activate the motors, but then I get an error with malfunction detected and it stops.

I've cleared all faults but can't clear an implausible signal fault in brakes or the no basic settings fault either and can't apply basic settings.

Before I resort to matches, what else should I check?

Fuse one is fine. Took it out, checked with multimeter turned ignition on with fuse out. Put it back in again.

First, perform abrake pads change sequence. That is, open and then close. Unfortunately, OBD11 isn't always reliable with default settings.

When I try that it fails with an error about conditions not being met.

Is VCDS likely to be more able to sort this instead of Odbeleven?

Hi,

What kind of fault code do you get when performing a scan with your ODB eleven?

Actually, we should have started from the beginning... 😉
