WRX with Prodrive upgrade

Featured Replies

Had a drive of my brothers two year old Subaru WRX which has just had a Prodrive (PP1) upgrade.

The upgrade takes the power output from 225bhp to 265bhp and was done by replacing the rear silencer box, removing one of the three cats and fitting a exchange/upgraded ECM.

I was very impressed with how the car drove......I expected it to be a lot quicker than my std Octy vRS.....and it was......provided the revs were above 3K.

What did suprise me was how refined, smooth, quite and well behaved it was.

Prodrive have done an excellent job of increasing power and maintaining std refinement levels.....And... the the PP1 upgrade is approved by Subaru so does not effect the remaining 12 months warranty.

Would'nt it be great if Skoda did something similar

bill :)

Refined, quiet, well behaved?!?! That's not what you want from a Scooby :P Go take a test drive in a proper Scooby (classic shape) for the full on "I'm a rally driver" experience :D:rofl:

Chris

New Scoobies can be had very cheaply at the moment and they are offering £3k of fuel. They were offering 3yrs servicing, I don't know if that's still running too.

I think times are hard for them.

I've had a ride in a mate's late model 'classic' shape 'Prodrive' Impreza. It is extremely fierce!

I think the Focus ST will hit scoobie sales quite hard.

Liverpool's main police station has a classic scooby for sale along with a few other nice machines. All have been impounded due to lake of insurance :D Could get a nice deal. I bet they've all had carefull owners. Never been used as a getaway vehicle.

Each to there own........maybe its an age thing Chris.....(I'm 40ish) and need a refined, quite well behaved family car, otherwise I'd have swmbo moaning (even more than she does now) and kids throwing up in the back :thumbdwn:

My bro's mate has a Jap import "proper Scooby" with over 400bhp, which is supposed to be awesome when its running, but is off the road with crank problems at the moment and before that it was off the road with a blown turbo.

Lee (my bro) who is "Scooby Mad" suprised me when he said the flat four engines can be a bit fragile due to heat/cooling/lube problems when modified..... I always thought Scooby's were bullet proof  looks like I was wrong again :D

My line managers fast as fook classic WRX (not STI he think their the slow uk ones  ) (330BHP depending the mood he's in) is currently of the road too with a blown head gasket (dont know which one) and a leaking radiator. Before that it was melted piston. Before that a fooked clutch (must be like the fabia owners) before that another melted piston. Before that another clutch. He still doesnt understand the fact Japan has 100 octane fuel

Give me classic Type RA anyday :D

A friend of mine has a P1 running 300+bhp and has never had a problem with it in about 50k miles.
