Hatchback struts

Featured Replies

Anyone have a link for aftermarket struts for the Mk3 hatchback boot lid, please? I bought a pair from AliExpress for the bonnet mod, getting ref numbers etc from this forum.

The boot lid on my car is getting heavy to lift, so I’d like to replace the struts.

Thanks

If you found the bonnet struts, why can't you search for the boot struts yourself? 🙄

You should be able to check the current struts for a part number the should be very easy to find.

Should be 5E5 827 550 with a letter after the 550 most likely a Q.

Best advice is go to Skoda-Parts.com, sign up for a free account then enter your VIN into the garage section and then search for Gas Strut, all parts that do not fit your car will be greyed out. Once you have the part number try get some Stabilus struts, recently replaced my OEM ones with these and they've been such an improvement.

Quoting my first post above, “getting ref numbers etc from this forum”.

A few years ago, there was a ‘how-to’ thread showing how to replace the manual bonnet prop with gas struts, and which gave links to the AliExpress part numbers, and fittings etc. There are many very helpful members on here, hence me asking if anyone had this info.

Thanks CianKT, I’ll follow that trail. I’d not come across the Stabilus brand.

Stabilus is OEM seller for 80% der OEM

If all else fails, you can get genuine ones here.

Thanks agaiN CianKT. The Stabilus struts you recommended arrived today, fitted no problems, took about 10 minutes. Hatch now opens really easily. 👏👏

Do you have a link please? Also, any chance of a pic of how they look? Thanks

Sorry for the delay in replying, I’ll try to find a link.

as far as what they look like, they’re indistinguishable from the originals.

IMG_5350.jpegThis is the best I can do, sorry, but it gives the seller details, their ref number, and the price..But please check with them though that the ref is still current for the Stabilus ones. Tbh, I just googled Stabilus tailgate struts for Octavia Mk3, and these were the cheapest I could find.
