Cloudy mark on dash

Featured Replies

IMG_0354.jpegAs I’m coming to the end of little tarting up jobs this one is now starting to annoy me.

There’s a cloudy mark on the clear plastic covering the dials. Generally it’s just out of line of sight but I know it’s there and that’s enough to annoy me!

I think is scratches in the surface and I guess someone had used something a bit abrasive on it at some point.

I tried wiping over with wd40 and it disappears until the wd40 dries off, so it’s definitely on the surface.

Any magic tricks to remove this type of thing or is it something I’ll have to put up with?

Not worth changing the dash for.

Don’t use WD40 or any other strong solvents, it’ll only make it worse in the longer term as it will have a melting effect and cause more fogginess. The issue is the material itself. WD40 would work as a solvent to remove a contaminant on the surface; it’s masking the issue instead of resolving it.

Will have a look at products - I did see something about a company doing a PPF-type that had great results with these sorts of applications.

Heat gun could help but you'd have to be careful

I tried wd40 as I was cleaning off some superglue residue elsewhere and wondered if it was the same thing here.
