I've just noticed that the engine management orange light stay on. most of my driving is short distance under electric power. Is this light supposed to stay on?

No. How often does the engine get run, and for how long or how many miles? How many miles has the car done? When was the petrol tank last filled up, as in how old is the petrol?

Petrol is about a month old about 2000 miles mostly electric. about once a month the engine is used and run for a while at about 90 degrees.

I can see that little use of the engine becoming an issue for the GPF. I hope you will be changing the engine oil on a Fixed Regime. As to petrol i would use E5 as it might be or should be less hygroscopic than E10. & Winter grade is less Hygroscopic than summer formulation. Which was why i was asking how old the petrol. Not filled up before November.

I've always used E5 petrol since owning a Škoda. In your opinion if I use the engine more should it cure the problem.

@YMe You need to know if there are issues and what they might be. Needs checked for any Logged Fault Codes, misfires or other issues. How many miles has the car done?
