Self levelling headlight sensors

Let's talk about self levelling headlight sensors..

My car has had a bulb warning light on since I bought the car.. all lights work as they should and when I plugged vagcom in a couple years ago, it said the levelling sensors weren't working properly...

I had a quick look at the front sensor today, I unhooked the little arm from the ball joint and then the arm was just flapping around like it had zero resisitance inside the sensor... is the arm meant to have resistance to it, or should it feel like it isn't connected to anything? 🤔

I need to wait for my pal with vagcom (again) to come round and plug it in to figure out which sensor is actually broken...
