Rear Disc size

Featured Replies

I’m going to change my rear discs and pads but I’m not sure what size I need as Auto Doc is showing up a few different sizes.

Yeti 2017

1.4 tsi 4x4

I’ve checked the build data sticker in the boot but that wasn’t much help as it was so faded.

Can anyone advise?

Call TPS and with your VRN they will be able to tell if you cant get the road wheel off.

Thanks Carlston, appreciated.

I took a wheel off tonight and measured them to about the 272 or thereabouts but your information lets me get the discs and pads ordered.

I am pretty certain that only the smallest (253 mm) discs as fitted to the 1.2 can be removed by fiddling them out. My 2012 1.4 TSi had 272 mm discs and (from memory) they could not be fiddled out and therefore needed the caliper carrier etc to be removed. This involves very tight fasteners and a special 12 point spline driver, so you need the car high enough to use a breaker bar.

Thanks Austin 7

When I had the wheel off last night I had a go at the carrier bolts and the two on the driver side loosened off fairly easily. I’ve done a fair few pad and disc changes to VW cars and I had an original Yeti 170hp when they first came out and did an all round disc & pad change on it.
