Service reminder, local garage can’t reset after service

Featured Replies

Looking for some assistance or advice. Local indie garage in West Lothian completed an MOT and service on my Enyaq iv60. Unfortunately they have tried to reset the service reminder and have stated that it is locked by the dealer!!

Their advice is to take it to the local dealer at Sighthill Edinburgh and ask them to unlock it to allow local garages to reset after a service.

Any advice or assistance would be most welcome. I purchased the car from Bristol Skoda and don’t fancy the long journey, especially staying in West Lothian.

It is probably not necessary to have the dealer reset it, your garage probably just needs the right software tool. My local garage was able to correctly reset my service indicator on my ID.4 as part of the service - not an Enyaq I grant you but basically the same MEB software running the car.

Thanks, I did wonder if the problem was at their end and they have just given me an excuse. Will need to find local garage with the correct software for servicing.

@karmichael I strongly suggest that you use a Garage / Technician with the VW licensed equipment so that they get TPI,s & any updates / enhancements & that they can do them, and even warranty work with some places. What servicing was done, was it the pollen filter and brake fluid?

I always used this garage for MOT and full service. This was the first time since buying the Enyaq that I put it through its mot and asked them if they held the necessary qualifications to work on an EV for servicing. The car was given a full workout in regards to brakes, filters and all tyres replaced for Michelin Cross Climate.

@karmichael Was the brake fluid changed at 2 years and the service indicator reset, or was the brake fluid changed this time?

Basically what I've done with the ID.4 since its been out of manufacturers warranty. My man is EV / HV qualified and as he said himself, the EV bit of the service is just looking at stuff. He was able to download the VW service schedule to ensure it was a service up to their standard.

PS. My brake fluid was changed at 4 years, but Ian said it was actually still in spec.
