Key remote wont lock or unlock door

Featured Replies

Both my keys will neither lock or unlock the doors on the vRS remotley (I can still use the barrel) Also the red light doesn't flash by the lock when you lock the door manually. Any idea what's going on ?

you may need to recode the keys to the car. Assuming it still starts then the immobilisor should be ok it'll only be the central locking.

Try this routine which is for a fabia but it may work -

Procedure For Matching Remote Key Fobs To The Car:

Using a spare key switch the ignition on.

Insert the key to be programmed into the driver's door lock.

Manually lock the driver's door using the key.

Press the Lock or Unlock button on the fob once.

Wait for a least one second.

Press the Lock or Unlock button on the fob twice.

I should point out it worked fine until 30 minutes ago.

I'll give what you say a go though, thanks.

Nope, still not working :(

Central locking is working though, just can't open/lock the doors remotley

It's a bit odd that both might go at the same time but next thing must be to change the batteries

Well its only hapened after I put a new head unit in, so I'm wondering if I've buggered something up as the HU allways stays on even if you turn the ignition off

Actually the central locking doesn't work inside. If you lock the drivers door from the inside only the drivers door locks...

aahhh - You didn't mention that.

Now it becomes clear. Search for the after market radio problem.

You have probably put 12v down the K line. You need to swap a couple wires and you may have blown a fuse.

Ahah ! Sorry that bit slipped my mind (it was probably how bad the Alpine Ipod interface is stressing me)

Yes that makes sense. Where is the fuse box btw (The dealer hasn't sent me the manual yet)

Thanks for your help :)

inside the drivers door - end of the dashboard.

The fuses are located on the right-hand face of the end face end of the instrument cluster below the cover. Opne the driver's door to get at the end of the dash, place a screwdriver against the cover (arrow on cover) and carefully lever it off.

Ta, I'll get over to Hellfrauds tomorrow and get a replacment :)

I doubt you have blown a fuse, I would think what as happened is as the perm and ignition (aka S contact) feeds are around the wrong way the key out signal is being bypassed. The car wont lock if the keys are still in the ignition. There are a few other things that wont be working aswell. Swap the wires over and all should be well.

the red and yellow ?

  • Author

Well I've put the OEM HU in now and that works fine, so I must have had the wiring wrong. I did try swaping the red & yellow but didn't make any difference. I've also go the blue going from the HU direct to the antenna amp thing. Might just get a specific VAG ISO adapter rather than the generic one I've got.

You don't need the adaptor just to swap the two wires around in your existing plug. Do a search it's pretty well covered.

Details on pinouts can be found here - http://www.fabia-vrs.com/carkit.htm

Most head units also have bullet connectors in their loom so you can connect the red to yellow and yellow to red, effectively swapping the live and switched power.

OK, can I just confirm this:

Swap the red and the yellow on the iso block so you have red on the HU connected to yellow on the iso block, and yellow on the HU connected to red on the block. Connect the blue from the HU to the antennae amplifier thing and make sure nothing is connected to blue on the iso block

Job done ?

yeah, all done and working, thanks for the help

I must say though that a: The standard speakers are **** and b: the Alpine CDA-9853R user interface is utter bobbins

Apart from that all is cool!

I have the same problem, but i can unlock the car, not the drivers door only the others. It’s working sometimes but when I really need it to work it doesn't. And if i lock it with the key and it works the drivers door is not locked.
