Hi everyone!

I have an urgent rust problem near the panoramic roof seal. So far, there's no leak. I plan to take the car to a body shop shortly, where the rust will be sanded off and the entire roof will be repainted. The seal will, of course, be replaced with a new, original one.

The body shop told me that the repair might not be effective, meaning the problem might recur after some time due to moisture, which could be getting under the seal's mounting due to a design flaw. Has anyone else had a similar problem? How did you resolve it?

Could this be covered by the 12 year corrosion warranty?

The warranty covers rusting from the inside out' and it does appear to be rusting from inside the seal, not from the outside inwards. Might be worth asking your local dealer.

Thanks for the reply. I've read about it, but I didn't think about it that way, and I'd still be within the warranty period (the car is from 2016). I'm skeptical, but I'll call on Monday and let you know.

Would be interested if you had any success with the warrenty, taking mine into the dealer next week for the same issue

I’ve got the same thing going on, bubbling up around the edges of the rubber seal.

I’d be amazed if Skoda uk would honour the corrosion warranty, I’m at some point going to speak to a local body shop to get advice on repair and their opinion as to what’s caused it.

I'm also going past a body shop today as well, to scare myself at the price.

I have no real expectations that Skoda will do anything but no harm in asking.

I wonder how common the rust actually is on cars with sunroofs.
