Dash warning light, bottom centre of dash.

I have a new trailer and when hitched to the car an orange triangle with an exclamation mark appears. It stays lit whilst driving but nothing appears to be wrong. Manual shows orange and a red triangle with little useful information. Didn't happen with previous trailer. Not a lighting fault either. The red triangle shown in the manual has not appeared, only the orange one. Any ideas please. Thank you in advance. Ted R.

Think I read its a general warning. It said to check infotainment for further info. If its only on when towing it may be a bad connection in trailer or poor earth even though lights are working. Are your trailer lights LED or normal bulbs

Generally when I get that yellow triangle my screen wash is low. If you get the triangle again you can see what the issue is by flicking through the car menu on the stereo, should give you some idea as to what is going on.

If its LED lights on trailer they use a lot less current so car may think there is a problem with lights. I believe you can get a load resistors to increase current or use a bypass relay or convert trailer to standard bulbs.

Many thanks for the quick replies, I'll start investigating. I had the horrible feeling it was something serious!

Maybe try another trailer if possible with standard bulbs to see if it makes a difference. If it is it might be possible to tell ecu etc that its LED for towing as yours is a MK3.

There might be an entry at MENU -> CAR -> STATUS (done that from memory so may be incorrect) to give a hint.

It could just be a dirty connection on your trailer light socket/plug.
