I was trying to complete the journey on a single tank of fuel (have tried this with every car I've owned over the years).

Also bear in mind that the fuel tank capacity plays a part. I was surprised my Mk4.5 vRS only has a 50 litre capacity. Golf R Estate is 55 litres, Cupra Leon Estate also 55 litres. My wife's Audi Q3 is 60 litres!

Hi All,

just done about 7000 miles in mine and I have a boring MPG question, I have took the aero wheel trims off as the wheels look amazing without them, but I have done a week now with them off but I might be imagining it but It looks like I am getting worst MPG.

Does anyone else had have this experience or am I going mad?

Brilliant Car, I get in it and it just flies.

Well the aero covers exist to improve fuel economy but I’d doubt the effect would be so obvious you’d immediately notice it. There is a reason EVs have ugly wheel fairings and the range is best only with the smallest wheels. At the end of the day you shouldn’t chose an RS if fuel economy is a big driver there are other models more suitable if efficiency is a high priority

What’s the difference in mpg? Are you comparing like for like driving conditions and weather? I would suspect a (marginal) drop on motorway runs, but no difference around town.

Bit more importantly, well done for removing the inserts 👏

Fair shout - for me it's like for like as my Alfa had a 50 litre limit too.

At the end of the day I doubt any of us bought a vRS for efficiency but in today's climate avoiding the motorway fuel tax is preferable!
