Diesel costs are going to break me

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I used to have a Golf 1.9 Tdi and now i have the 2.0TDI DSG Octy 2. sorry about the euro speak but I have spent

Cruising at 85 mph usually averages about 50 mpg for me. (TDi 2.0 Manual). But I'm not going to complain as my last car (Landrover Discovery) only did 25 mpg.

Tim

Can't do the sums from your figures, but after 3,000 miles our identical engine/gearbox gives an overall accurate average (calculated, not from the computer) of 41.1 mpg, and an average mileage-per-tank of 427 miles. That's a mixture of long-distance and town driving. Yours should improve - give it three months and let us know how you're getting on.

Personally, I think over 40 mpg for a powerful and roomy estate ain't bad.

Thanks Guys, I cant do sums full stop, I thought that the comp may be able to tell me but no, I will take it easy on the gas and see what happens in a few months like you suggest.

Someone forgot to ask the key question.

How many Miles / KM';s has the engine done, as they improve with age :)

Steve, good question 2,500kms, about 1,700 miles

I average around 480 miles from a tank in my 2.0TDi manual and that's driving it pretty hard.
