New MK3 Octavia vRS Owner

Featured Replies

Hi,

Registered a little while back as I was looking for a vRS, finally found one I liked and took the plunge.

It has a few things to sort out but I enjoy fettling with cars so that’s all good.

A few pics for you delectation.

Hi welcome.

If you've not already seen it, along with lots of other model and general sections, there is an Octavia section on this site which includes forums for Octavia Mk3, Guides and Projects. - https://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/169-%C5%A1koda-octavia/

Thanks! I had spotted it, hoping it doesn’t become a project but then again I know it probably will…

Nice looking VRS, were the wheels silver when you bought it or have you had them powder coated/painted?

Needing the wheels done on our VRS😐

Having just recently bought a mk3, my one bit of advise would be to check the oil regularly so you can get an idea of any consumption.

I’ve recently bought exactly the same car, same age too. It had some incredible oil consumption which is hopefully now fixed (turbo seals).

Yours looks to be in ever so slightly better condition, though mine isn’t too bad.

I’m curious if you have used the VAG DPF app or similar on yours to gauge DPF health?

Mine had to be topped up 500ml shortly after I bought it, then again in another 125 miles! The turbo has been replaced since and now I’m just waiting for the dreaded oil level warning, too scared to check the dipstick 🤣

0.3 litre per 1000 miles seems to be what ours is using, I think sticking rings due to long service intervals ? I can live with it, car goes well and doesn't smoke.

Oh I think I could have lived with that level of usage tbh. Extrapolating out, mine seemed more like 4L per 1000 miles!

Came that way, they need doing again as there’s quite a few scuffs so will like get them done a darker colour.

Funnily enough I check the oil weekly, force of habit, and had top it up. That said it’s not gone done much since then to wondering if it was a shade low after it was served pre sale. Will continue to monitor.

Not used the VAG system but used my Icarsoft system to check and it seems okay, I’m going to plug it in to another system this week so can check again.
