Tavia Rs uprated lowered suspension

Featured Replies

Hi if pos i wouuld like to lower my rs slightly and improve ride, i was told you can only lower the car no more the 35mm without changing the drop links,as i only want to drop it by 35mm this sounded the right choice until i was told how much and i would have to go to coilovers

I suppose one option, that would give you any ride height you like because they are adjustable would be to go down the KW route, they make the Variant 1 suspension, that includes new dampers and springs as a complete kit, for about

The KW option 1 is the kit i was quoted

How about Eibachs if its just springs you want?

Have a trawl around the site, or get in touch with Jabbasport, i believe they do Eibach spring kits ;)

Geoff, Jabba told me they dont do them for the Rs,they also said the eibach s are for the tdi and are not TUV for the RS .

They will fit as regal fit them but you gain 30mm on the tdi so on the Rs that sits lower in standard you only gain i think 5mm,so would you fit the wrong springs only to gain 5mm and maybe put your life at risk!!!

Was only a suggestion...

Try one of the other suppliers who post on here, i'm sure someone will have a spring kit.

Dave,

I don't think anyone does a dedicated lowering/suspension kit for the RS. Most kits are for the Octavia not the RS. The best compromise IMHO is the KW3's with the progressive springs like the ones fitted to Jon's, not the standard KW3 kits.

Kits to avoid, KW2's/Koni's same :dung: IMHO.

i was told by eibach themselves that they strongly advise against using their octy lowering springs on th RS

Dave,

KW1's....Don't know.

KW2's....Bounces all over the place. :dung:

KW3's....With the progressive springs

I've tried various suspension set ups in my time with the RS.

IMHO its not worth lowering it. In order of preference from what I've tried:

KW3 are the way to go, IMHO. Mine aren't standard, they are linear springs rather than progressive. Ride appears softer than standard, right up to the point when load is applied that is over a certain amount, then it is much, much stiffer.

2nd best setup I had was standard springs with Leda tarmac rally dampers. Not as forgiving as the KW and needed rebuilds.

3rd came the standard setup.

4th was Konis with standard springs

5th Konis with H&R springs

6th H&R springs with standard dampers

I've had H&R coil overs fitted and they make the cat sick!

I feel they give greater confidence on any open road (or country lane) when travelling in a hurry, except motorways in which case surface undulations lead to spine compression. And its easier to get 'air'
