Front & rear wiper washer not working

Featured Replies

Hi guys

Wipers turn on but no water is coming out of the jets on the front windscreen or rear window.

Cannot hear pump when pulling on stalk.

Water reservoir for wipers is full.

Was working only a few days ago, now randomly just stopped.

Car is 2017 Octavia VRS facelift hatch.

Any ideas on how to troubleshoot would be great.

Cheers

Access pump connector (often via full or partial wheel arch liner removal, don't know for your specific model, others can advise).

Check for voltage with one or other polarity depending on whether front or rear washing is being commanded by your assistant in cabin, with ignition on.

If voltage is present, replace washer pump.

If no voltage is present, check appropriate fuse.

Do you have VCDS or OBDEleven? If so give the car a scan, my washer failed and there was a log the my OBDEleven scanner found.

If you don't have a scanner easiest thing will be rule out a blown fuse, this should be behind the glove box, check your manual to find out which fuse it is, if the fuse is ok then look at the pump you will need to jack up the car, remove the wheel and the wheel liner, the hoses could have popped off but it is unlikely.

If the pump has failed you will need a pump and a grommet seal. All in all it's a bout an hour long job, I would suggest removing any gunk that's behind the wheel liner before removing the pump otherwise you'll end up with dirt in your screen wash when you collect the screen wash in a bucket.

I'm not sure that there is an obvious fuse for the washer motor, it's fed directly by two pins of the BCM (7 & 8 of the 46-way connector).
