Brake caliper bracket/holder identification

Featured Replies

Hi,

On my Superb 3 2.0TSI 200kW ( year 2020 ) I had bigger brakes and now I went back to the original ones. However when installing them, I probably mixed up left and right brake caliper holders - they had the OEM number on a label, but its gone and unreadable.

I installed new brakes including new rotors, pads etc. but it seems like the pads didnt sit well on the rotors. The brake pedal was spongy and it didnt brake well - also there was squealing and right rotor had 1/3 of the surface untouched ( closer to the center ). Therefore I changed the brackets and now its braking fine and the squaling is gone. However since I rode a bit with the wrong brackets, now the pads are still sitting and there is still a little stripe on the right rotor where its not in contact yet. Brake calipers themselves are properly installed with the breather valve on top.

The caliper brackets are very similiar - codes 3Q0 615 125 / 3Q0 615 126. Could I possibly tell which one is which based on the slide pins? There is one pin with rubber thingy on the end - is it supposed to be on the bottom or top? That way I could tell which is which and be sure about the change, since there isnt anything else that shouldve caused that problem. I just wanna be sure its all installed properly now.

Thanks for any help

From a Google 125 is left side and 126 is right hand side.

Well, yes, I found that out very fast, but I have no way of telling which is which - OEM number on the sticker is gone and they are very similiar in reality. Thus Im asking about the slide pins - because one is with a rubber ring and one is without it.
