Propshaft bearing

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a late 2013 Skoda Octavia 4x4 2.0tdi.

Do these cars have a central support bearing for the propshaft between the transmission and rear differential? I'm struggling to find out online.

Recently I have been having what sounds like a mild grinding noise from the rear of the car. It doesn't sound like typical bearing whine/warble.

I have replaced the rear wheel bearings a couple of years back. And the Diff has also been rebuilt around the same time.

And with the metal/rubber coupler ring. What symptoms would I get if this was on its way out?

When the metal / rubber coupling goes it's generally a loud low droning noise coming from the rear of the car that increases with load and is louder in higher gears - so under load at just over 70mph and 2300 RPM or thereabouts in top seems to be when it is at its worst.

I think some have also experienced the metal 'ring' coming oose from the rest and moving that could be a more metallic grating type sound.
