Help.

The small tailgate opens/closes fine, though the soft lock pull down does not operate.

The main problem is I am unable to open the large tailgate.

I press the right button on the boot and there is a grinding noise from the right hand side, half way up the boot lid.

After a while it stops but there is not high tail light on and nothing happens.

As an aside I need to open the large tailgate to allow re-spraying of the roof. Is there any manual override to allow opening of large tailgate.

Think there is a small plastic cover inside that when removed you push a plastic lever to open manually. On my Mk2 octavia theres a small slit that you slide a screwdriver left/right. Maybe some foreign object has jammed locking system.

Thanks for commenting Alasdair1 but that only unlocks the small lid/door/tailgate not the large one, which is my problem.

Read that if someone puts pressure on tailgate from outside and try to open it with button either on fob or inside car it can work.
