First time buyer – Skoda Yeti 1.2 Petrol TSI SE

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I'm looking to buy my first Yeti – the main purpose will be driving out of London to go on trips camping, cycling etc, so loading it up and driving for a few hours at a time.

I''ve been looking at a 2016 1.2 TSI SE model which seems to be a pretty good deal, however its quite far from me so before making the long journey and have my decisions influenced by that, I was hoping someone else could sense check this for me.

I've done a bit of research, as much as I'm capable of understanding and it looks like a really good deal to me.. however I don't really know anyone well-versed in Skodas so would appreciate any advice you owners could give me!

Much appreciated

Brake discs look tired. Matching, but budget tyres: reviews are quite mixed. No photo's of the seat bases (always a good reminder to look closely!).

See if you can get the Reg. No. so you can look at its MOT history. Check its service history.

I've always fancied a Yeti (though I'd want a 4x4). When looking I was surprised how small the boot is. A mate had a 1.2 Fabia from the same year, that I looked after from time to time - had a good little engine.

If you're not mechanically minded, have it inspected. Don't buy it without seeing it, and driving it yourself, would be my advice.

Thanks for the response Gaz, appreciate your thoughts. I would love the 4x4 version, the 1.8 L+K model looks fantastic but a bit out of my budget, hoping so spend around £7k realistically.

I'll mostly be driving with just 2 people in the car so with the seats folder flat I'm confident there will be ample space for us.

But yes think i'll try and find something a bit more local to me, even if its just to test drive and get a feel for it.

If you're driving for a few hours at a time, certainly consider the 2.0TDI (There's a nice looking (IMO) Black Edition in Sheffield).

Rarer, but 1.4 TSI's (Petrol) and 1.6TDI's do come up.

Member selling a 2018 1.5 tsi Octavia estate on forum. Ideal camping trip etc car. Mich cheapness.

Hey thanks for the heads up – I looked at Octavia's briefly, I did drive one on a ski trip and really enjoyed it! However I'd rather something a bit more compact for city driving.

There is a total bargain mk2 Fabia up for sale..

Just got the service history – it had the timing belt + water pump changed in 2024 which is good, however failed its MOT recently..

Move on IMO.

+1 nod

And that’s without seeing the rest of the MOT history.
